The genesis of Institut EXEBIO
The International Institute for Sustainable Bioeconomy EXEBIO
Since 2016, the bioeconomy has been an identity signature for the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne (URCA). This theme is at the heart of its establishment project but also Reims site that URCA manages. The implementation of the bioceonomy also directly influences (i) the quality of the environment and (ii) the entire socio-economic organization. These areas are fully in line with the sustainable development objectives and the policies carried out at the local, regional, national and European levels, to respond to major societal challenges.Â
Â
The strategy adopted by the URCA is based on a core potential of 300 researchers, state-of-the-art equipment and a proactive policy targeting synergies between training, research units and innovation partners for the implementation of the square of knowkedge.
Â
In July 2022, the university was awarded Excellences funding "Excellence sous toutes ses formes" as part of the Plan d'Investissement d'Avenir with its EXEBIO project "Excellence in sustainable bioeconomy". This success recognizes the excellence in research, training and innovation of the URCA in its signature field: bioeconomy and the environment. It confirms the strategic orientations and strengthens the scientific positioning chosen by our university and its partners.

The kick-off meeting for the EXEBIO "Excellence in sustainable bioeconomy" project was held on Friday May 26, 2023 in Reims.
A round table discussion, attended by all project partners, brought the morning's presentations to a close.
Many thanks to all the partners and the 200 participants for attending this launch event.
